Charity Wills Weeks 2021/2022

Following a two-year break, we resumed our Charity Wills Weeks.

This is where the team at Acorn donate their time to write wills free of charge during two separate weeks within 12 months.

During this time, we ask for a donation to one of our six chosen charities in return for drafting a standard will. The suggested donations are £150 for a single Will, £220 for couple’s Wills and £90 for amendments -saving our client money while raising funds for these fantastic charities.

Every 12 months we select a group of charities that are close to the hearts of our employees.

In the last 12 months we chose:

We are thrilled to say that we raised a total of £12,455 for these charities. We would like to say a huge thank you from the team at Acorn for all who donated for their Wills in those weeks; the difference it makes to these local charities cannot be underestimated at this time when it has been hard for them to raise funds as you can tell from the comments we received when we passed the donations over to them:

“We are so grateful that, through Charity Wills Week, Acorn has raised an incredible £5,315 for St Margaret’s Hospice. Not only has the scheme raised a wonderful amount for the hospice and five other Somerset charities, but it’s encouraged people to make a Will to ensure that their estates are secure. The community’s kind donations to St Margaret’s will all go towards our services caring for people who have life-limiting illnesses, like cancer and COPD, as well as support for their families and carers. Support from Acorn means that no-one facing the end of their life in Somerset does so alone, and for this we say an enormous thank you.”

“Somerset Wildlife Trust would like to thank Acorn Solicitors of Street and Taunton and their clients for choosing to support the Trust as part of their Charity Wills Week. The money raised from their clients’ donations will support our vision for a Somerset wide nature recovery network creating more space for wildlife, benefiting everyone and playing its part in helping reverse biodiversity loss and tackle the climate crisis”

“We are enormously grateful for the support of Acorn Solicitors through their Will Weeks. Over £2,000 was raised during November 2021 and March 2022 and thank you to everyone who made a gift to Love Musgrove. The money has been directed to our Better Everywhere fund which supports the wonderful work of the staff here in the hospital and goes where it is needed most; helping any part of the hospital to buy items that are ‘over and above’ what is normally provided, such as funding Children’s play equipment, activities for our older patients, and care and improvement of our outdoor environment Since 2018, over £5,000 has been raised from gifts in Wills which has made an enormous difference, including helping us to reach the £1 million MRI Scanner Campaign. Huge thanks to Acorn and to everyone who has supported us.”

"Leaving a Gift in your Will to bibic will support so many children and young adults with neurological and developmental difficulties. We support a wide range of difficulties such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Brain Injury and many more, with or without a diagnosis. Our Developmental Therapists help families and young people understand their difficulties. You enable us to provide bespoke therapeutic plans that give families strategies to help, hope for the future and on-going support. bibic is here for as long as families need us, and you can allow us to transform families lives forever."“It’s really helped me understand myself and that having any neurodiversity is not a disability, it's actually really cool.” - bibic child

“We are delighted that Acorn Solicitors have been fundraising for us via the Charity Wills Week. The money raised will go directly to support people who are experiencing challenges with their mental health across the country. This includes one to one advice and support, activities and groups and Mindline – our 24 / 7 emotional support telephone line. We are so grateful to the whole team at Acorn Solicitors for thinking of us and making this happen.”

Look out for notice of our next Will Week, which will be announced early in 2023. Watch this space!
