Make a Will

Recent research from Solicitors for the Elderly revealed that 61% of adults in the UK do not have a valid Will leaving their families and loved ones at huge risk.

If you die intestate without a Will the law decides who inherits, how much and who can deal with things. For families and loved ones left behind this leaves a huge uncertainty and a further stress.

The Alzheimer’s Society recently published several reasons why people do not make a Will:-

  • Not knowing the key life stages when to make or update a Will
  • Believing that having a Will written professionally is expensive
  • Thinking the process is always long and complicated
  • Putting off a difficult decision thinking they have nothing of worth so don’t need a Will.

At Acorn Solicitors we work to fixed fees and all our Wills are drafted by Solicitors who specialize in Wills and Probate. We aim to keep the process as simple as possible. After an initial meeting in either of our offices (Taunton or Street, Somerset)  or at your home if you are unable to come into the office we draft the Will and then send this to you for approval. The next stage is we then finalize any changes you may need to make and then arrange a final meeting for you to sign the final version. We then give you a copy of the Will and keep hold of the original free of charge in our storage. Generally this process can take a few days to a few weeks depending on how urgently it is needed.

David Sinclair a partner at Acorn Solicitors said I see a lot of clients who have put off making a Will for years but they are hugely relieved and surprised how straight forward it is once they have taken that initial step of coming in and making their Will. Our aim is to make the process as seamless as possible and guide our clients through this very important and significant document.
