Moving to a new house can be exciting, rewarding and a positive project to embark on. However, all too often the actual process and the preparations are daunting and sometimes the move can feel stressful and time consuming. Partner at Acorn Solicitors Taunton and Street, David Sinclair, is currently moving home and has said how he can empathise with everyone experiencing this upheaval. Together with David we thought we could offer you some support and advice to help you as you embark on your move.

Don’t throw everything out! Your personal bits and bobs can offer you great comfort especially if you are feeling insecure in a new place. So rather than throwing out – consider later on whether or not to get rid of something. However, de-cluttering can be good for the mind and soul. So just don’t be too rash!

Ask for help – friends, family even your neighbours will be happy to support you so don’t be afraid to ask for help. Ask for help with babysitting, making decisions or even to lift some boxes.

This can be an extremely physically and emotionally exhausting time so give yourself a break.  Have a rest, take a walk, or go for a drink with a friend. Remember to hug each other and your children and remind yourselves that you are doing this for a good and positive reason. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
