Unforgettable – help for Dementia sufferers

We have come across an excellent website for those living with dementia and their carers called Unforgettable and just had to share it with you.

https://www.unforgettable.org/

This website sells all sorts of different products to help improve the quality of life for those living with dementia and their carers. It sells a range of products from GPS insoles to help you track someone that has gone wandering to home monitoring systems to colouring books.

The man who set it up the website, James Ashwell, knows first-hand what it is like to live with someone who has dementia after his mother, a qualified chef and florist, was diagnosed with the condition. During this time, he realised that there were no shops or websites specifically for people living with dementia or their carers. James found himself going into children’s shops to buy things for his mother such as colouring books, but these didn’t quite reflect her needs. His mother also loved cooking but was sadly told she could not cook any longer as it would be a danger to her. So James took it upon himself to find some special cut resistant gloves to enable his mother to cook again.

James realised that, although there are plenty of really useful products out there, they are not easy to find. This is why he launched ‘Unforgettable’, to bring together all of the useful things he wished he knew about sooner when he was caring for his mother.

Not only do they sell products for people living with dementia, they have a community page to enable people to talk to people like them to share their experiences.

We hope you find this useful.
