Acorn Solicitors of Taunton and Street has raised more than £5,000 for 9 popular charities by writing Wills for local people under the Will Aid scheme last November. This achievement has made the small family firm the top givers in Somerset, 5th in the South West and 56th in the country out of the 1900 or so of firms that take part. All of the money goes straight to Will Aid and is shared by the participating charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF and Trocaire.

Acorn Solicitors is proud to support Will Aid and would like to thank all those Will-makers who donated so generously. Partner in the firm David Sinclair said: “It was great to see so many clients last year and also for us to support the Will Aid campaign. It is a wonderful opportunity for local people to make a Will and the incentive for them is that they donate to charity rather than pay our fees.”

The grand total of the firms giving last year to Will Aid before adding in the gift aided donations is £4,655. Since the firm opened in 2009 it has raised a total of £11,879 to Will Aid. The other partner in the firm, Jill Sinclair, who is based in the Street office and was also involved in Will Aid said: “It has been hard work but I am delighted we have been able to raise so much money and provide local people with an affordable opportunity to make a Will and get their affairs in order.”

Acorn Solicitors will again be taking part in Will Aid this November so please visit their website nearer the time for more details.
